The team at Weavers Court part of Adore Care has seen some recent changes – and we love it!
We’re thrilled to share with you a recent update from our team, with two new appointments. Jacqui Coverdale has moved from Deputy Manager to Care Manager, while Amanda Locukiejewski has been promoted from Senior to Deputy Manager. What makes this news all the more exciting for Adore, is that these are internal appointments. This means that we’ve been able to reward these fabulous staff and double down on our commitment to staff development and opportunity for growth.
This is especially important for our company as both members of staff have been with Adore Care, at Weavers Court, from the very beginning. From working hard to prepare the home for its grand opening and welcoming the first residents, to celebrating the recent Coronation and getting ready for a busy summer season; both Jacqui and Amanda have shown that career progression is not only a possibility for team members at Adore Care, but that it is a reality.
We Adore Progression and Development
We are very proud of Jacqui and Amanda – but we’re also pleased for the Adore brand. It’s easy to make promises of retention and development, but these appointments demonstrate that it’s more than an empty promise. We’re growing still and invite those who are keen to progress in a career in care or care management to consider Adore Care as their next employer.
We’re looking forward to continuing to work with Amanda and Jacqui, both their roles are key and core to the growth of Weavers Court and our Top 20 rating and 10.0 score with Carehomes.co.uk.
Mariyam Jogi, General Manager of Weavers Court from Adore Care, said “I’m particularly pleased to make these promotions as we watch much-valued members of staff progress in their career while staying within the Adore Care family. Helping to develop our team members is really important for us as a home; it means that we get to keep good people and that’s great for continuity and staff morale. We’re looking forward to welcoming new staff members on to our team in the near future.”
We are recruiting at Weavers Court
Weavers Court currently employs almost 40 staff and Adore Care is recruiting for a further 10 positions across care and housekeeping as our home expands. We offer top rates of pay – which currently stand above the National Living Wage – and a great benefits package. Our employment package includes a Wellness scheme, counselling, a refer-a-friend payment scheme, free on-site parking and, of course, a fantastic environment in which to work.
With the summer season upon us, Weavers Court residents enjoyed one of their planned day trips, opting to explore Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster.
The residents had a fantastic day out, exploring all that the park has to offer – and have enjoyed talking about it since they returned back.
From Zoo to Conservation Reserve
With the focus of zoology now falling on conservation and species protection, it’s great to think that the Yorkshire Wildlife Park is such a leading light in animal welfare. Opening in 2009, on the site of a former riding school and farm attraction, the Wildlife Park is now home to over 400 animals and looks after 70 different species.
The Park sets out to be an interactive experience and a centre for the conservation of biodiversity that promotes a greater, deeper understanding of the natural world and enable people to support and protect the world around us.
Some of the most important milestones for the park have featured important developments for the animals that now live there. February 2010 witnessed the rescued of 13 lions from a dilapidated zoo in Romania by the Wildlife Park and their introduction to their new home in the park’s newly built 10-acre Lion Country enclosure. In 2014, the Park opened Project Polar, with Victor, a 500kg polar bear and his grandson, Pixel, in 2015. With the Park expanding in 2021, it is now home to a Sea Lion reserve, which includes one of the largest purpose-built water habitats of its kind in the world!
Betty quoted “It was a very nice day, very different for me” with another commenting that both the weather and company were ‘perfect’. Dennis summed it up well for everyone when he said, “I had a great day”.
With so many different species to see, habitats to marvel at and animals to view, it’s no wonder that our residents had such a wonderful time.
What’s On at Weavers Court
Days out are always really popular at Weavers Court but there’s much, much more to life with Adore Care. Our entire activities programme is developed in a holistic way that considers all aspects of our residents’ lives, from the physical, mental and spiritual to the therapeutic, sensual and socially enriching. Our residents play a big part in what we do, with full engagement of what they would like to do and when. Just as we do in our everyday lives, we can swap a planned walk on an unplanned rainy day into a movie afternoon or a drink in the bar to evening drinks on the terrace.
Every day at Weavers Court is special, but for one resident recently, our home made sure that she had a day to remember.
Happy Birthday Evelyn
Our much-loved resident, Evelyn marked her 101st birthday. The year that Evelyn was born in, 1922, was certainly a momentous year with lots of significant international events taking place. Russia became the USSR while King George V opened a new concrete tennis stadium at Windsor, known as Centre Court. The British Broadcasting Corporation began, funded by a Post Office license fee of 10 shillings that must be bought by anyone owning a radio receiver. Hollywood stars, Eva Gardner and Judy Garland were born – but for the community at Weavers Court, there was only one star attraction on Evelyn’s birthday.
The team decorated the home for Evelyn’s special day, with birthday balloons and banners. Everyone entered the spirit of Evelyn’s big day, stopping by her room to wish her the happiest of returns and sharing a chat and a laugh with her.
Being 101 is very special and the team wanted to create something amazing for Evelyn to remember.
A treat from Altreka Alpacas
With Evelyn’s love for animals so important to her, the team decided to do something different and arranged for Altreka Alpacas to visit Evelyn.
Evelyn was delighted to meet the alpacas, named King Kong and Luke. The team were touched to see how much Evelyn enjoyed getting to see alpacas up close and it certainly made sure she had a day to remember.
However, the fun didn’t stop at alpacas.
Family and friends had joined us and stayed on at Weavers Court after Luke and King Kong had gone home to enjoy a birthday party and – of course – a birthday cake.
Of her big day, Evelyn said, “It was a wonderful day and the alpacas were marvellous.”
Evelyn’s family also loved every moment of her birthday and thanked the team.
“Thank you for all you do for my Great Aunt. You made her day so special, one we will all remember for ever.”
“Thank you to everyone for making this such an amazing day. Evelyn absolutely loved every minute of it, and we did too.”
Becoming a Weavers Court resident means that you become part of a loving and caring community that take good care of each other. Friendships are made and our home is full of the happy chatter of happy residents.
Our Weavers Court home was awash with the colours of the Union flag as our resident’s marked the Coronation of King Charles III. Some of our residents were lucky enough to have memories of another Coronation, of Queen Elizabeth II, so our event sparked lots of memories and conversations about the two events.
For the Coronation itself, our residents settled into our cinema room to watch the event on our big screen. We have plenty of red, white and blue on display, with flags waved. Some of our residents even got into the spirit by donning union jack hats in honour of King Charles’ important event.
As with many gatherings up and down the country – and around the world – our residents watched the ceremony unfold, looking out for the historic moments and taking a look at the attendees in Westminster Abbey.
Our residents thoroughly enjoyed watching it together and it was the subject of plenty of conversations in Weavers Court on Saturday afternoon.
It’s hard to imagine that, by Sunday evening, all thoughts of the Coronation had been put to one side as our residents recounted the events of their own huge event at Weavers Court on Sunday.
Weavers Court Street Party
Sunday 7 May was a date to remember as Weavers Court held our first street party – in honour of King Charles’ III Coronation. It was a fantastic event and gave us all something to look forward to after the excitement of Saturday’s ceremony.
The team at Weavers Court opened our home up to families, friends and our local community to welcome them to join us for a day of fun, laughter and even dancing.
Stalls lined our outdoor area, giving the chance for our residents to get some retail therapy in what turned out to be a warm and sunny day. We all enjoyed some amazing food and drink, working our excesses off with by tripping the light fantastic to our live music. Our residents certainly got into the party mood.
For our younger visitors, our bouncy castle and face painting proved to be an enormous hit, with lots of bouncing, giggling and joy.
Our residents, friends, families and visitors joined in fund raising for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Watch this space for a final total.
From everyone at Weavers Court, we’d just like to wish everyone that came together to make the weekend such a special event that has created wonderful memories a very big THANK YOU!

Jan S, the daughter of one of our residents, said, ‘This just isn’t a care home it’s a community of love and respect for those that need extra care.’
David G, son of one of our residents, also commented that, ‘The layout of the home is excellent and it is beautifully furnished throughout. There is plenty of space, with a variety of differently styled rooms of which residents and guests can avail themselves. Five-star rating!’
This has always been really important to the management team at Adore Care Group, the company behind Weavers Court. Residents at Weavers Court had the most fabulous adventure recently, as they were invited to explore Leeds United’s ground at Elland Road.
Introducing Sophie Dales
Sophie Dales, from the Leeds United Foundation, works with our residents at Weavers Court to help keep them moving. Our Health and Wellbeing Activator, Sophie spends time with our residents and helps them to enjoy chair-based exercises. We know that moving is great for our wellbeing but we also know that it helps our residents with their mental health too.
Sophie has been working hard with our residents, treating them with a trip to see what life is like behind the scenes at Leeds United. A group of residents were able to visit the Elland Road site and see what really goes on at a modern football club.
Taking a Tour
Seeing an empty and quiet stadium let our residents appreciate the sheer size of the site, which would be packed full of fans during a match day. Able to see the pitch both at pitch level and from the stands, residents could experience what it was like for both players and spectators. Our resident, Pat, commented that it was ‘interesting and a very cold day’. She commented that she really enjoyed it and even said that her son was jealous!
As well as seeing the pitch and the public areas, the group was also given some gentle exercises by Sophie to make sure that they stayed warm in the winter weather. Barbara, one of our residents, enjoyed the trip and thought Elland Road ‘very nice’, while Mo gave it the ‘thumbs up’.
Getting to see behind the scenes helped our group to appreciate all the hard work that goes into 90 minutes of football. A trip around the ground gave them access all areas, with the group even meeting some of the Leeds United players. Our resident, Dennis, was thrilled and said that it was’ brilliant’ and that he ‘couldn’t fault it’. That’s straight to the back of the net for Leeds United!
David, another of our residents on the day trip, said that he wants to go again and it was ‘very interesting to see what goes on’.
Our residents are back at Weaver Court with a fresh energy for their exercise and an even better understanding of what goes on at Leeds United.
Thank you for such a special day, Sophie.
While we wait for the Spring to properly kickstart and the cold weather leave us for another year, staff and residents at Weavers Court are busy fundraising for Comic Relief.
Always thinking of others, the staff and residents are getting stuck into a series of fundraising events, while raising awareness of what it’s like to wear a wig.
The Fundraising Events
Marking International Wig Day on March 10th, we decided to show our support for people who lose their hair through disease or cancer treatment and opt to wear a wig. While we donned bright and colourful wigs, it was thought provoking to imagine wearing a wig each and every day.
Hoping for the luck of the Irish, we’re marking St Patrick’s Day on 17th March by wearing the emerald green of Ireland. We’re also thrilled to support Red Nose Day for Comic Relief 2023 by wearing bright red. Weavers Court is going to be so colourful!
The fun continues on Saturday 18th March with an extra-special game of ‘Guess the Baby’. Staff members will supply photos of themselves as bonny bairns and bubbly babbies for our residents to match up. There’s going to be a lot of laughs when we come together as a community to enjoy the big reveal. Part of our Comic Relief activity, it will be the cause of many conversations.
All of our Comic Relief activities will be raising money for Red Nose Day 2023. We know that there are so many ways to donate to Comic Relief and we’re thrilled to be able to share Weavers Court’s own link on Just Giving. Just Giving is a really simple way to donate to good causes. Simply click on the link below and donate in seconds.
Come and join us as we raise funds, make smiles and create memories.
Weavers Court Win
Weavers Court Care Home, part of the Adore Care Group, is thrilled to have been rated as 10/10 on carehome.co.uk. Members of both the care and support teams join with the management team in sharing their happiness that Weavers Court has been recognised so quickly after opening in November 2022.
Carehome.co.uk is a well-known online platform where both residents and relatives can rate and review care home services.
“During the design, development and building stages, and as we welcomed our first residents, our team put everything into ensuring our residents are cared for and cherished. While our rating is a reflection of the love, care and attention we show our residents, it is validation that our efforts are making a difference where it matters most – with the residents and their loved ones.” Said Mariyam Jogi, Weavers Court, General Manager.
Z H (Grandson of Resident) 28 February 2023

Lauren S (Granddaughter of Resident) 16 January 2023
“My grandad came home a different man after his stay with you. Thank you for the care you gave him. The home is beautiful and feels like a home-from-home. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Thank you.”
At Weavers Court, we welcome residents’ loved one with open arms and this allows them to be in and around our home. They can see our residents enjoying our facilities – set over three floors- and check out our daily activities schedule as they come and go on their visits.
The Carehome.co.uk reviews on Weavers Court show that our residents’ families can see the love, care and attention that we show their loved ones. They can tell that our concern for them and attention to detail is genuine. Praise for our high standards of cleanliness means a lot to our housekeeping staff and we were especially touched to see that both grand- and great grandchildren had enjoyed a film in our in-home cinema, keeping one of our residents company.
What especially stands out for the team at Weavers Court is the difference that spending time with us has made to the lives of our residents, even if they’re only with us on a short-term stay basis. We pour time and attention into each and every one of our residents and we’re reassured to hear that it has lifted their spirits.
Janet S (Sister of Resident) 27 February 2023
“I cannot find fault in anything at Weavers Court. Please just keep doing what you do. All our family are so grateful for all you have done for our sister. Thank you all so very much.”
Our facilities are dedicated to helping our residents to love life at Adore Care, from our on-site salon to our Sky Bar where our much-loved pre-dinner drinks take place.
What stands out most for us at Weavers Court is that both our residents and their loved ones can see plenty of smiling and approachable staff and that they know our smiles are real!
With the worst of the winter months behind us, residents at Leeds care home, Weavers Court, have fallen in love with the recent activities on offer. There’s been a very special birthday and staff pulled out all the stops to make the most of Valentine’s Day 2023.
Birthdays are Special at Weavers Court
When our residents come to live with us at Weavers Court, they discover that our staff like to make a fuss of them on their birthday. Our teams are always on hand for a chat and a cuppa but we make sure that birthdays are marked in a very special way. Our wonderful resident, Pat, was overjoyed to spend her recent birthday with us and it’s really added to her enjoyment of living at Weavers Court. Our community came together to celebrate Pat’s birthday, with our Chef cooking up something very special in the kitchen. Pat’s family was then able to join her for a home-made cake, presents and cards. Pat was delighted with her birthday experience, commenting,
“I had a lovely meal, lots of cards, presents and a cake baked for me by the Chef, all my family came to visit me, it made me quite emotional & happy. I really like living at Weavers Court, everyone is so lovely and kind.”
Love is in the air…
While birthdays are special, our residents don’t have to wait for their big day to get together and have fun. Valentine’s Day is always worth making a special effort for because – as we all know – love actually is everything!
Again, our fabulous Chef, Lewis, jumped into action, creating a special Valentine’s menu that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Many of our residents joined in with our movie night in the cinema. Residents found a little bit of room to tuck into some freshly made popcorn while they watched classic films. All agreed that it was the perfect way to spend Valentine’s Day. Thoughts are now turning to our next special day as we watch the arrival of Spring in our gardens.
