The DurhamGate Resident Feature – Muriel

By Samantha Holden on News, Resident Stories, The DurhamGate
Muriel, resident at the DurhamGate

Muriel, resident at the DurhamGate

The DurhamGate proudly presents our very first resident feature.

Muriel came to us just before Christmas 2023 for respite care, she has enjoyed her stay so much that she has decided to stay with us. We couldn’t be prouder, to know that Muriel calls the DurhamGate, home.

In the following video Muriel talks about her life before choosing to move into care. What makes her happy and how it feels living in an Adore Care Home. This video is testomony to the hard work, love and compassion our team puts in to the care our residents receive.

We don’t think we can say it any better than Muriel has, “You’re treated as a friend and not as a number!” Our fixtures and fittings may be of a high standard, but it’s our levels of care that truly set us apart.

We believe that the best way for you to see what our home is like, is to hear from the residents and their families. To see more reviews about life at the DurhamGate follow this link to carehome.co.uk

DurhamGate Care Home in Spennymoor Welcomes Their New Team

By Samantha Holden on Homepage Trio, News, The DurhamGate

At the beginning of October, Durham Care Home welcomed their new team with two weeks of induction training at Spennymoor Town Hall. The training was led by Lisa Atkinson and Joshua Riley-Knowles alongside Adore Care Homes Managing Director Andrew Long, DurhamGate General Manager, Karen Johnson and Front of House Manager, Samantha Holden.

The DurhamGate team threw themselves in to every aspect of the training, from Person Centered Care to Feelings based Dementia and everything in between. Staff even had the opportunity to practice shaving on Andrew!

By the end of the two weeks the trainers and management team were blown away by the hard work, drive and compassion the DurhamGate team had shown and were moved to find the team had bought them flowers and gifts to say thank you for how much they had enjoyed the Induction.

The DurhamGate Care Home Reaches Milestone in Construction

By Adore Care Home on Homepage Trio, News, The DurhamGate

In an exciting development update, The DurhamGate Care Home, a second home for Adore Care Homes which is set to open in November, has reached a significant milestone in its construction journey. The care home, situated in the heart of the prestigious DurhamGate development in County Durham, is designed to provide luxury care and comfort for the elderly, with an emphasis on Health, Happiness, Vitality and Wellbeing.

Luxury Living and Comprehensive Care

The care home’s construction is a pivotal part of the larger DurhamGate scheme, masterminded by Arlington, a prominent developer known for their commitment to creating vibrant and integrated communities. This collaboration aims to create a space where senior residents can enjoy a peaceful and supportive environment while benefiting from a broader community that fosters a sense of belonging.

Maria Booth, the Quality Care Director for Adore Care Homes, expressed her enthusiasm for the project’s progress. “We’re dedicated to setting new standards in elderly care, ensuring that residents receive the utmost attention, respect, and assistance they deserve.”

Luxurious Amenities and Comforting Spaces

Karen Johnson, the General Manager of The DurhamGate Care Home, shared insights into the design and facilities the care home will offer. “We’ve taken a person-centered approach to the design of the care home. With an emphasis on luxury living, our residents will be cherished and well-cared for in fabulous surroundings. We provide nutritious balanced home-cooked meals, a personalised activities programme, including movie nights in our cinema and then there’s always time for cake and a chat in our tea room”.

Amenities that Enhance Quality of Life

The DurhamGate Care Home will feature 66 bedroom suites, with full en suite shower rooms in each, providing residents with comforting and private personal space. The range of amenities is impressive, including a cinema, library, beautifully landscaped gardens, a bar, tea room, garden room, and even a beauty salon. Our En-suite rooms offer a comforting personal space while our airy and spacious communal areas allow our community to come together to enjoy an all-inclusive living.

Anticipating a Bright Future

Accompanying the news update are exclusive pictures that offer a glimpse into the ongoing construction process. Andrew Long (Owner) Maria Booth (Quality Care Director for Adore and the Danforth Care Partners), Karen Johnson (General Manager of The DurhamGate Care Home), and Dean Cook (Managing Director of Arlington) are seen touring the site, discussing the finer details of the care home’s layout and services, highlighting their commitment to ensuring a welcoming environment for its future residents.

As the construction of The DurhamGate Care Home continues, anticipation builds for the final result – a modern and purposefully designed facility that will provide exceptional care and support for the elderly residents. The collaborative efforts of Adore Care Homes and Arlington are set to make a positive impact on the lives of both the care home residents and the larger DurhamGate community.

The DurhamGate Care Home

By Adore Care Home on Homepage Trio, News, The DurhamGate

Adore Care is thrilled to herald the opening of a brand-new care home in County Durham, opening in Autumn 2023. As with our Leeds care home, Weavers Court, Adore Care is committed to delivering the highest standard of care and support against a backdrop of luxury living in our new home. The DurhamGate offers residential, dementia and respite care.

 The Local Area

Spennymoor is a small County Durham town that sits high on a valley overlooking the River Wear below. Within easy reach of both Durham and Bishop Auckland, Spennymore is a convenient location for Adore Care’s second home.

Spennymore has changed dramatically from its time as a coal mining town and is now home to a car-free shopping area and a beautiful town park with fabulous seasonal floral displays.

Our Home

The new care home is purpose built, which ensures that our property caters to the needs of our residents, with step-free access and wide corridors. Developed and built with care by LNT Care Developers, you can count on attention to detail and a high-end finish that creates the perfect living environment.

The home will have 66 luxury en-suite rooms and everything we do will be dedicated to looking after our residents and making sure that they’re happy. Our comfortable and cosy bedrooms can be finished with personal touches from home, like a favourite armchair or a reading lamp that’s lit up many a good book.

We know that our residents benefit from a breath of fresh air and so we ensure that our gardens offer something to delight whatever the season. We take good care of our gardens and create focal points of interest that residents can enjoy on a warm day in the garden or on a frosty morning from within.

Spending Time

As with Weavers Court, life can be as full or as restful as each individual resident wants it to be. Our activities programme includes arts and crafts, baking and days out. Our facilities will provide the perfect way to spend your days, from the in-home cinema or the tranquillity of the library to pre-dinner drinks at our bar or a quick trip to our salon.

Care and Attention

Our care is tailored to our residents needs in every Adore Care home and this will certainly be the case at our brand new care home. Personalised care plans are delivered by our skilled team of compassionate staff who will also take the time to connect with our residents and ensure they are content.
