This is The DurhamGate, newly opened in Winter 2023 we are currently growing our community of residents and would love to welcome you or your loved one to join us! The DurhamGate luxury care home is conveniently situated on the outskirts of Spennymoor, near Thinford, and offers residential, dementia and short term care for our residents.
At The DurhamGate, we go beyond being just a care home. We strive to make it a beloved way of life for our residents. Our approach involves personalised care plans that cater to individual needs, from care requirements right through to breakfast preferences. Every aspect is designed to ensure a positive and fulfilling experience, promoting dignity and respect for both our residents and staff members.

Our care home delivers high quality residential care that we personalise to each residents’ individual needs. Both our care and support team take time and effort to connect with our residents, spending quality time with them every day, allowing our residents to continue to maintain or even increase their independence whilst forming new friendships.
Our staff are highly trained to deliver targeted and personalised care residents living with dementia. Our specialised team understands that care connected with memory loss takes patience and compassion to ensure that our residents can count on the respect that is so integral to living with dignity.
Our respite care package ensure that short-stay residents can enjoy the whole The DurhamGate experience, whether they’re with us for a weekend or a month. Our staff take time to get to know our respite residents quickly and get them involved in our day-to-day activities.
We aim to foster an engaging and supportive community where everyone thrives, whether they live or work with us. Our attention to detail extends to the professional development of our team, enabling them to provide optimal support to our residents. Additionally, we offer homemade cakes and a cup of tea to visiting friends and relatives. Our on-site activities and entertainment are carefully tailored to meet the wants and needs of our residents, and we provide various amenities such as a bar and in-home salon, all covered under one inclusive fee.
Everything that’s on offer at The Durhamgate is included in the all-inclusive pricing structure. It’s as simple as that; every day trip, cinema night, meal or snack, newspaper, housekeeping and care is offered in one fixed price so that residents can get involved in as much or as little as they want to without having to worry about extra costs.
Our care and support teams are critical to our adorable care homes. We wholeheartedly believe that care is a rewarding career but we know that you get out as much as you put in – so we focus on training and developing our teams so that they are empowered to deliver their best every day. We’ll be building our new team over the coming months and we’re actively looking for people that have experience in care and who are only just thinking about a career in care.
